Introduction

My name is Scott Wallace and in May 2022 I will Bicycle Across Britain.

There’s a number of reasons for my decision.

Firstly, it represents exactly 10 years since I completed my previous challenge https://bicycleacrossamerica.wordpress.com/

Secondly, COVID-19 has significantly impacted the valuable things I/we once took for granted including the freedom to travel and enjoy all the resulting experiences.

Thirdly, My professional circumstances have changed slightly and this has given me the opportunity and desire to do some good and raise much needed funds for worthy causes.

I’m trying to raise £5,000 to support 3 x charities close to my heart:

1. The Jess Mackie Memorial Fund

2. St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation

3. East Coast FM

I would be very grateful for any pledges of support you can give.

You can make a donation either by scanning the QR code on this page with your smart phone camera or clicking the JustGiving hyperlink below it. Both will take you to my crowdfunding page and all the funds raised will benefit from the gift-aid tax uplift on distribution.

I hope you can track my progress by following this daily blog (enter your e-mail address in the ‘Subscribe’ field on this Homepage) and I would love it if you provide me with regular encouragement, observations and support.

Thank you

Scott

21 May – Final Reflections

And so my LE2JOG adventure comes to a satisfying end. What a 2 weeks! I feel so lucky because the weather was excellent for the whole trip. Whenever the wind blew, it was generally a welcome tail wind. I think I picked the right time of year to do this trip because it was an…

19 May – The Mother of All Conclusions

I’ve done it! I’ve reached John O’…. thank goodness for that! It was a strange sense of relief and slight disappointment. Relief because my body is absolutely knackered and I’m looking forward to seeing my family and the novelty of being able to sit on a soft sofa. But also tinged with a little disappointment…

18 May – Tongue burnt

The conditions today were glorious. It was sunny, warm (17 degrees) with a generous tail wind for most of the journey. The road surface was excellent and the scenery was nothing short of spectacular. It was an absolute joy to be on the bike for over 9 hours and cover 87 miles today. I set…

17 May – Songbird

This morning’s cycle started off through some pleasant woodland paths for the first 10 miles up to Carrbridge. I was struck by how peaceful this was with the birds chirping and singing. What followed was good surface cycle paths running parallel to the busy A9 road. The weather was perfect with a slight tail wind,…
